I've been reading on the matter and I just discovered that the vast majority of people leave their Switches in Sleep Mode. Not only that, but it's meant to be left in that mode when finishing sessions.
How To Make Switch Download Faster
Nintendo recommends it and a lot of users claim that for longevity purposes it's just the best thing.On the contrary, a few people say that it's a waste of energy and that video game consoles tend to fail if put in Sleep Mode frequently.I'm one of those people that usually play their 1-2 hours and then just turn off the system by pressing the power button for those 3-4 seconds, I don't usually use the Sleep function because it has always seemed to me like the hazardous option in the long run.So my question basically is: what should one do? Power off or Sleep?Sorry if I sound silly, btw, but I guess it's important. WiiConnect24, IIRC, would take the unit OUT of sleep mode, and I'm fairly sure there were some units with bugs that prevented the fan activating. Eventually this caused the heatsink on the GPU and VRAM to separate from their associated chips and caused this issue. This was a warranty issue that got fixed very quickly too - I dealt with it myself. While I highly doubt there are any such issues with the Switch, I would suggest using sleep mode so if there are any issues with your console you uncover them quickly and you can claim on them before your warranty expires.
I dunno, my Switches screen usually pops out in the top right corner after playing for over an hour in docked mode. I just push it back in, and it sticks, but I'm a bit worried about longevity if current games are heating it up so much.Of course, Spawn Wave did a great video showing how cool the system stayed compared to maximum operating temp for the cpu/gpu, but I'm wondering about the rest of the system - there's a battery sitting in the heat, for one (not that its dangerous, just that it'll probably negatively affect the battery life). I'll try not to:)Honestly, my system has developed a slight bend, too. But, its no where near an early run - I bought it in late July, and my serial number is not an affected number.
Will Switch Download In Sleep Mode
So, I feel like 1) it doesn't hurt anything, and 2) if I send it back, pay massive shipping, risk customs charges for a system not available in Korea, and wait over a month turnaround, there's still a fair chance my new one will be the same, as the problem is still out there. I'd rather wait until there is a definitive solution, or at least as long as possible. I'll probably come home next April to visit, so plenty of time there.
